When the sun and the moon had reached the end of the cycles that defined the withering of Fallen-Adam’s season of barren trees, the departure of earth’s greens, frozen streams, and the dearth of ready fodder, the villages were happy to begin preparations for the full, warm arrival of St. Eve with its replanting of seed grains, the cultivation to follow, and the traditional seasonal games that would precede that labor.

Of all the tales and myths that had been carried over the years by oral tradition, the names of Adam and Eve had been the ones most constant among the tribes of Numar, attached as they were to the changing of the seasons despite the fact that their origin had been lost in the mists of memory.

Nate had achieved the age in the cycles of the cosmos that his family had encouraged him to participate in the games of St. Eve as had his older brother before him. There would be an abundance of labor for the entire family to follow in the demands of replenishing the goodness of their assigned parcels of arable earth.

Nate had every intention of competing with the records of his brother Nathan that had brought him a special young woman as a prize in the games of St. Eve the year before. The council of villages’ leaders had already gathered to debate the contests, their rules, and the establishment of wagers and encouragement of participation.

There was usually little need for participants in the long history of the St. Eve games. Every wealthy village leader was anxious to wager some special part of their many holdings in hoping to win additional property or some part of the lesser wealth of the villagers, especially the newly heated urges of the constant hunger of the many youths regardless of the level of family wealth or lack of it. There was always the hope that winning a contest might suddenly enrich a family of meager resources to assist with their constantly hungry or sick children.

There was always a special interest in those races or contests by which the male youth could hunger after the freshening of the erotic display of the young women who had gained an age during the cycles of the seasons so that their physical attributes were made free to shine. This was true despite the fact that there was no lack of sexual activity where possible among every level of society and wealth during the freezing times. There was even attention paid to improving the intellectual attributes of the physically endowed virgins. There were such, generally locked away during the Fallen-Adam days of heavy study with only occasional display to the broader villager families of their many rich physical qualities.

Some of the families were even able to afford the hired instruction of the most highly regarded satyr specialists to ready both female and male youth for what lay ahead of them when the weather warmed. In fact, since the many cycles in the past when
